#RhyPiBoMo Friday Catchup 1

This month I am taking part in Angie Karcher’s Rhyming Picture Book Month – RhyPiBoMo for short.

RhyPiBoMo pledge

As you can see the challenge is fun and fits in around my dissertation work quite nicely. Registration is still open until April 8th 2015 if you want to take part. It is of course a good excuse to read some excellent children’s literature and to appreciate the work of talented writers and illustrators.

Children’s literature is often under-rated but to the work and skill involved in telling an engaging children’s story should not be underestimated.

There is an extra to the challenge that is not listed in the pledge as it is personal to each participant and that is to try to write your own rhyming picture book story.

Writing in rhyme is hard to do well and part of the reason for taking part in RhyPiBoMo is to learn from those who can.

So for this Friday my favourite rhyming picture book of the week is Julia Donaldson’s The Snail and the Whale illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
